Native American Woodland Culture

A Special Presentation By:

Dan Sullivan

Program is Spoken, NOT MUSIC (1 Hour 15 Minutes)

By birth I am not Native American. I was not born on a reservation. My step-father however was. He was Ojibwe or Chippewa, from the Lac Courte Oreilles Indian Reservation near Hayward, Wisconsin. Like his Grandfathers before, he was proud of his heritage. He taught me a lot and what he did not teach me directly, he opened the doors for me to learn. It was not until after his death, that I began to realize just how much he had taught me. Over the years I have had the opportunity and privilege of being involved in co-founding several traditional pow-wows, mostly in Southeastern Wisconsin. Because of this, many people have come to have a greater understanding of Native American traditions. With that understanding comes a greater respect. Only with respect for each other can all races, religions and people of the world live as one, in peace.
